Natural Herbal Pioneer Mark Blumenthal

If you eat an herb, sniff essential oils or swallow an herbal capsule, you owe a debt of thanks to Mark Blumenthal, founder and Executive Director of the American Botanical Council.

Starting in the 1970’s, Mark turned his vegetarian passion into a passion for herbs and herbal medicine.

As he developed his Asian Ginseng wholesale business in the late 70’s, Mark became enthralled with the heritage, scientific study and dissemination of herbal wisdom.

This eventually developed into the launch of the American Botanical Council (ABC) in 1983. ABC soon became the nexus of the scientific study of herbs and their many practical, traditional but especially medicinal benefits. By the 1990’s Mark became the go-to-guy for media interviews on controversial and informational issues about herbs and especially their place in the USA’s regulatory landscape.

Mark’s leadership of ABC has lead to a renascence herbal awareness by publicizing the burgeoning benefits of herbs for food, health and for their aesthetics.

Thanks to ABC and its tireless efforts, herbs and herbal businesses have earned a legitimate place in the minds of Americans and on the shelves of millions of stores in America and the world.
